On April 30, 2010, CICPA released Information on Comprehensive Evaluation of Top 100 Accounting Firms in 2010, with PricewaterhouseCoopers China, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu CPA Ltd, KPMG China, Ernst & Young-China, RSM China Certified Public Accountants, BDO China Shu Lun Pan CPAs, Shinewing Certified Public Accountants, Pan-China Certified Public Accountants, Crowe Horwath China CPAs Co., Ltd and Daxin Certified Public Accountants ranking among the top 10 firms in sequence. The information shows that because of a series of supporting policies and the firms’ internal impetus of rapid self-development, the strategy of promoting stronger and more competitive accounting firms has achieved noticeable accomplishment, and the overall size of firms has been expanded by reaching a new level.

 

According to “the Measures for Comprehensive Evaluation of Accounting Firms(Trial)”, there are five evaluation indices, including total revenue, number of CPAs, training efficiency, number of professional leading talents, received punishment and professional discipline. Since 2007, another six supplemental indices have been added, including number of branches, number of practitioners, number of partners, the age composition of CPAs, educational background of CPAs and audit revenue. In 2010, based on the above indices, per capita revenue and the number of overseas branches have been added, which constitute a further improved comprehensive evaluation system with five indices and eight supplemental indices.

 

Since 2006, CICPA has released this information for five consecutive years, which has provided more comprehensive and valuable information for guiding and promoting accounting firms to enhance the concept of attaching equal importance to size and quality, for general public and customers to know and make judgment of the firms’ comprehensive strength, as well as get a better understanding of the development trend and important characteristics of the accountancy profession, which also got widespread recognition from government agencies, customers, general public, and other parties within and outside of the profession.
