2017 Cross-straits, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR Accountancy Profession Conference Convened in Ningxia

The 2017 Cross-straits, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR Accountancy Profession Conference was hosted by the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China on September 18^th 2017. Mr. Zhao Mingji, Assistant Minister of Ministry of Finance delivered opening remarks to the audience. Mr. Chen Chunping, Director General of Finance Department of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region welcomed the attendees. Madam Feng Shuping, President of CICPA, Mr. Wu Hanqi, President of Taibei Institute of Accountants, Ms. Chen Meibao, President of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and Mr. Yang Caijian, Deputy President of Union of Associations of Professional Accountants of Macau also delivered speeches at the opening ceremony representing their organizations respectively. About 200 delegates coming from Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Chinese Taiwan and Chinese mainland attended the conference.

The theme of the conference this year is “Development of Information Technology and Innovation of the Accountancy Profession”. Dr. Chen Yugui, Deputy President and Secretary General of CICPA made a keynote speech addressing the theme, together with other speakers from the three other regions. Dr. Yang Zhiguo acted as the facilitator for the keynote speech session. In addition, speakers discussed widely on three sub-topics including “Significance, Adoption and Difficulties of New Audit Report Standards”, “Role of CPAs in Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing” and “Inclusive Growth and SMP Development”. After each session, there were heated discussion and interaction between the speakers and the audience.

The conference was first convened in 2006 and has been hosted by accounting bodies in Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong S.A.R., Macau S.A.R. and Chinese Taiwan by turns since then. It offers an important opportunity and platform for the regions to deepen exchanges and expand cooperation so as to promote the development of the accountancy profession. The next Cross-straits, Hong Kong S.A.R. and Macau S.A.R. Accountancy Profession Conference will be held in Macau S.A.R. in late 2018.
